EARLY NINETEENTH CENTURY ANGLO INDIAN ROSEWOOD AND PENWORK LARGE PORTABLE WRITING SLOPE, of oblong form with embossed brass side handles above a pair of pin locked side drawers and conforming panel to the front, decorated with rows of foliate scrolls and outlined in boxwood, the pink painted interior with green plush lined writing surface and pair of brass mounted square glass inkwells and covers to the rear, 7 ¾” (19.7cm) high, 14 ¾” x 12 ½” (37.4cm x 31.7cm)
C/R- late design to the centre of the cover, incomplete, ring part of the side handles missing and one handle to the drawer beneath in pieces, rubbing to the pen work, minor losses to the line inlays, both covers loose to the ink wells and one with chips and mis-shaped brass holder, pen tray and one divider missing, rubbing and slight warp to the writing surface and staining to the interior beneath
